Note the “Thumb Scoop“!
Over time, filler used on cork handles fails, and falls out, and with the poor cork quality, common these days, this condition can seriously weaken the cork and ruin the grip.
By repairing the cork, and adding a heat shrink sleeve, the grip can be returned to near-new condition. Note: The basic cork grip should be intact, with only small breaks , or missing filler.
For a complete cork repair, I will:
- Re-fill the missing filler.
- Shape a “thumb scoop”, if desired. (see Note, below)
- Sand the cork smooth.
- Seal the cork with a cork sealer.
- Add a Shrink Tube* grip covering.
*There are 3 colors available: Yellow, blue, black (I recommend yellow for the tropics and other hot weather conditions.)
Note: The picture above shows a yellow grip, and this grip has been modified with “thumb scoop”, contoured into the cork grip. This is an additional feature that can be added, at no charge. I was introduced to the “thumb scoop” by Del Brown, over 50 years ago, and add the scoop to all my full wells handles! The “thumb scoop” helps secure your hand to the grip and prevent the grip/rod from rotating.
Price: $50 each, plus shipping. (Fed Ex “triangle tube” recommended)
Bonus: For 2, or more rods, the price is: $40ea.!!
